"There's comfort in melancholy"

I have not written much on here recently, but that is because I have been writing other things. Firstly research proposals for Masters at University, but secondly I have been writing poetry and some new songs. I am feeling a whole new wave of inspiration flowing over me recently, and I feel sometimes that expressing myself through my imagery (photography) is just not enough. It all seems to be pouring out in song, which is wonderful. This weekend (apart from working) was spent recording music with my very talented Dad, he really is amazing. Sitting down with my guitar in my lap, singing my new work to my father (the coolest musician of all time) is such an amazing experience. One day I may just have to share some of it here.



I have been listening to Joni a lot recently and have been reading about her life. She really went through a hard time as a young woman and musician. So inspirational, so much in fact that I have some really cool news to share, but perhaps I will mention this in a few posts time when it is a little more certain :)  ... I am sooooo excited about this.

Until then I am thinking I am going to have to get myself a little bit of a trim at the hairdressers. My hair is so long at the moment... I miss having a fringe... I am thinking I may just have to channel a bit of Joni.

wonderful things

My new favourite thing apart from the sewing machine of course would have to be pinterest. Although I have been pinning for a couple of months now these past few days I have been getting so much inspiration that I had to record all the wonderful things I was coming across. If you are not yet onto pinterest you must... it becomes your online visual journal, a reference point which is always there.

Today what started as a simple online search turned into a pinning frenzy now I have loads of thoughts and ideas in mind for my upcoming projects... photographic , food and fashion related... more details soon. Take me to Downton

I have a new obsession, one that could be considered as quite healthy by most of the women of England or rather perhaps the world... I love Downton Abbey... I could watch the episodes again and again... possibly a huge procrastination... but as my mother puts it an extremely inspirational experience. So inspirational that I have in fact bought myself a sewing machine and have begun sewing again. I have almost finished a beautiful cotton princess line dress which I am most pleased with. I find sewing so therapeutic and love knowing that at the end of all my efforts I will have a completely unique handmade garment that I can wear with pride. I have bought the fabric for my next dress which is inspired by the beautiful clothing worn by the ladies of Downton Abbey. It shall be pale blue with little flowers and once the dress is constructed I will embroider it too. Can’t wait to show you all the finished product.
