I make music
I am not the best at keeping this blog thing going but I do have an excuse... I have been playing music and moving to the other side of the world.
Most of you would know that I am a photographer... but you may not know that I am a musician also.
I have entered a comp with one of my songs and would love it if you could have a little listen and then vote for me.... if you go here.... or follow the link below you will find my entry, please vote and share too if you like.

Pretty people
I have a confession to
make… I have some freakin beautiful friends. A couple of days ago I had a
lovely morning coffee with my wonderful friend L… She is gorgeous.... and not to mention an extremely talented ceramicist.
Have you ever been to
Hey Jupiter on Ebenezer Place in Adelaide… it opened only recently and it is
bloody adorable… I believe the man who runs the place is French… well I am
assuming it is his place … A few weeks back I
order a soy flat white in English and walked away kicking myself… damb it I could have practiced my French and struck up a conversation… well a very limited conversation… but a
conversation all the same… I said to myself that next time I went I would order
my coffee in French, but unfortunately he was not there on this Tuesday morning.
Anyway L and I enjoyed
our coffees whilst we soaked up the sun.
Later in the day after
scanning some negatives I meet A and C at the pub for an afternoon golden ale…
again in the sun… I am really enjoying the weather back in Australia… not
having a proper Summer for over a year was beginning to get to me a little.
I will leave you here
with some more pictures of a pretty person. :)
Hehe this one is my favourite.

Outfit. 2. Bittersweet
I have gone a bit mad
on the shopping forefront these past few weeks… asos is my new best friend. Oh
dear. Not to mention my very
expensive trip to Billy Hyde earlier this week. I did score some amazing bits
on sale… but it feels sort of bittersweet knowing that I am benefiting from
such a sad moment in history… Yes the decline of the music retail store has hit
Adelaide… It is a sad time as we see more and more of our favourite places
close down in what seems to be a more and more sleepy town… I hate to label
Adelaide thus… but if this continues any longer the city will be stripped bare
of its culture and arts. The Jade Monkey closed last week… the Rundle Street
Markets cease to exist…. I am rambling now… sorry. However, we are heading into
festival season now and things can only get better. I am looking forward to a number
of shows, which will feature a number of my talented, arty friends. These
photos were taken last week whilst waiting for the bus as I headed to the city
to meet the folks for the Billy Hyde sale. Then Ying Chow for dinner and a full
up walk through China town.
Hope you're having a
lovely week so far. Only one more week left of my show at the Reading Room on
Hindley Street in Adelaide, please do pop past.

Outfit.1.
We have had some lovely days in Adelaide recently for some strolls in the park and some bicycle riding. The other day I wore this outfit for a bike ride into town, to do a little shopping and have lunch in the sun.
Today I wore my hair in a messy ponytail.. I have been feeling really uninspired when it comes to my hair recently... it just seems to be a big long mess... I think it may just be the longest I have ever grown it. Anyway I am trying to play around with it at the moment before I do a big chop... well maybe not too big.

Radio Interview, Exhibition, Masters
This year is literally flying past, I have been back in Adelaide now for a time which seems like forever, but let me just say that it has been a good time. With less than 2 months left of my Masters at University the pressure is beginning to set in... however, I feel as though I am doing alright. I had my mid semester assessment yesterday which went well, I also did an interview with the lovely Jennie at Street Cast – Radio Adelaide 101.5FM yesterday afternoon. It was loads of fun... being in a sound proof room, head phones on, mic before me... just like recording music... yet there was no guitar in my lap and I was rambling about my art instead of singing out my memories. I had a brilliant time. The interview will air tomorrow (Saturday) between 12-1.30pm... You can listen to the station on the internet, so if some of you out there are not living in my neck of the woods, you can still tune in. Head here for the official website of Street Cast.
If you live in Adelaide city you may have seen these flyers floating around the place.
Better get going now... I’m off to read some articles on Wet Plate Collodion Printing and New Romanticism.

"There's comfort in melancholy"
I have not written much on here recently, but that is because I have been writing other things. Firstly research proposals for Masters at University, but secondly I have been writing poetry and some new songs. I am feeling a whole new wave of inspiration flowing over me recently, and I feel sometimes that expressing myself through my imagery (photography) is just not enough. It all seems to be pouring out in song, which is wonderful. This weekend (apart from working) was spent recording music with my very talented Dad, he really is amazing. Sitting down with my guitar in my lap, singing my new work to my father (the coolest musician of all time) is such an amazing experience. One day I may just have to share some of it here.
I have been listening to Joni a lot recently and have been reading about her life. She really went through a hard time as a young woman and musician. So inspirational, so much in fact that I have some really cool news to share, but perhaps I will mention this in a few posts time when it is a little more certain :) ... I am sooooo excited about this.
Until then I am thinking I am going to have to get myself a little bit of a trim at the hairdressers. My hair is so long at the moment... I miss having a fringe... I am thinking I may just have to channel a bit of Joni.

Space
Today is a special
day, me and my clever man are heading to the real estate agent to get the keys
for our new little home. I am so excited, we have such a laugh together so I am
sure we will have many chuckles falling over boxes and carrying mattresses and
tables up stairs. Will post some
pictures of the new place… until then here are a couple rather ambiguous images
taken in our last humble abode in Brighton, England.

A few little trips overseas
Follow my blog with Bloglovin
I do apologise for the
huge and I mean really huge gap in the posting on my little blog. I have been
immensely busy with workshops, packing, travelling and settling. So busy infact
that I have not had a moment to stop, sit have a fresh pot of tea since I
arrived in Australia almost two weeks ago … until today. It is raining outside,
the windows are foggy, but my toes are warm and the tea if delightful.
I will today pick a
couple of memories to share, a slight indulgence of nostalgia never hurt
anyone.
After my lover arrived
from Australia we found ourselves in Brighton: a beautiful seaside town nestled
between Shoreham by Sea and Newhaven on the south coast of England. We were in
the midst of winter, the rain was light and the air crisp. We sat on the beach,
listened to the seagulls and foolishly took off our shoes and paddled in the
icey water. We laughed and drank cider in cosy, traditional pubs, and took
Polaroids in our little flat. Alongside one another I would edit photographs
and he would draw he masterful creations. Day trips to London, Southampton to
see Laura at the Guildhall and Hastings were had… with more friendships formed
along the way. It was lovely.
Within a couple of
weeks we were showered with sun. The clouds parted and we again headed to the
beach, but this time we drank cider in the sunlight and dipped our toes in ever
so slightly warmer waters. It was
magic.
Soon we headed to
Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire, a beautiful traditional town about an hours train ride
away from Leeds. We went to visit an old friend of mine and her partner for the
weekend and found ourselves walking through the woods on misty mornings and
sitting on the Yorkshire hillsides at sunset. We ate Indian food and road buses
through Leeds, watched my friend in roller derby training and tested my musical
mixing skills with a DJ lesson. Lots of fun.
A couple of weeks
later A and I found ourselves in Marbella, Spain. This is a story for another
time as I fear I may spend the next week or so explaining what is now a
beautiful memory time with a beautiful person. For now I will leave you with a
couple of pictures of our time in Spain.
Note: the oranges A is
holding we bought from a most friendly chap selling oranges and onions from the
back of his truck, it took a while but we laughed as we spoke our very limited
Spanish vocabulary to purchase them… they were mind blowing.

January Through Instagram
This post is a little late... but with all the moving around I must admit it has been rather hard to get to a computer regularly... We have been to Paris... it was amazing (A really enjoyed himself)... We have also been for a bit of a road trip around the South and West of England... Amazing... so beautiful! Right now we are settling into our own little place which we will call home for the next little while!!! It feels good to have my own space again! I am enjoying this new direction... taking things a little less seriously... It feels really quite amazing!
Will post images of our new abode and neighborhood soon... any guesses where we may be? :)

Leaving home
We are off to Paris next week, and after our return we will drive around the south coast of England and the West Country. Then Leeds and Wales. But this trip is not just for pleasure, there is another intention behind this... which I shall reveal soon.
Now I must admit, I am one for leaving things to the last minute... so perhaps I shall start of the essential to pack for all the trips ahead...
Guitar, novel, my lyric book, boots (for those muddy walks in the woods), warm coat, fluffy hat, gloves, camera... well maybe two or three... which ones to choose? The digital will be needed for the two commercial shoots I have in Paris. But of course a few analogue... diana and perhaps a polaroid?
Hope your all enjoying the weather... The Uk is particularly lovely right now, cool crisp days with clear sunny skies, delightful.
Oh you may remember some pictures similar to this one... I posted them here when I first arrived in Europe 6 months ago.

all the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey
Today, my parents flew back to Australia... I am very sad. Thankfully I have a beautiful friend from Australia staying with me for the next week... providing me with plenty of distraction...
It is cold, wet, windy, gloomy and dark here on the motherland... However, nothing beats Englands charm ... in winter this country is simply stunning.
